It's a preconceived conspiracy: Ijaz ButtISLAMABAD (September 02, 2010): The Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Ijaz Butt, has termed the investigation as 'strange', and part of 'preconceived conspiracy', as the raids on hotel rooms were conducted without prior approval of the ICC. In a letter to the Secretary General to the President, Salman Farooqi, and Secretary to the Prime Minister, a copy of which was also exclusively made available to Business Recorder.

Afridi looking forward to play good cricketTAUNTON (September 02, 2010): Pakistan one-day captain Shahid Afridi said he was looking forward to getting back to cricket despite the "challenge" of leading a team engulfed in a spot-fixing scandal. Pakistan are due to play Somerset here Thursday in their first game since several members of the side were implicated in a betting scam.

Three arrested in Britain over betting claimsLONDON (September 01, 2010): Two men and a woman have been arrested in Britain in connection with allegations that Pakistani cricket players were involved in a betting scam, customs officials and sources said Tuesday. "Three individuals were arrested on Sunday as part of an ongoing investigation into money laundering," said a statement from Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs, a government agency.

Younis Khan accuses British paper of defamationKARACHI (September 01, 2010): Former Pakistan cricket captain Younis Khan Tuesday served a legal notice on British newspaper The Daily Telegraph for linking him with a spot-fixing scam involving seven national team players. The Telegraph apparently linked Younis, who ended his captaincy last year after a players' revolt against him, to the bookmaker Mazhar Majeed at the centre of the allegations.

PCB will not suspend players without proofTAUNTON (September 01, 2010): Pakistan's cricket board said Tuesday it would not suspend players accused in a betting scam while the claims are investigated, as British authorities arrested three people over the scandal. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has promised "prompt and decisive action" if the allegations made by a British Sunday newspaper are proven.

LHC summons Pakistani playersKARACHI (September 01, 2010): The Lahore High Court has summoned the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, the federal sports minister and seven cricketers on September 7 to hear a petition calling for the players to face treason charges. Lawyer Ishtiaq Ahmed filed the petition in the High Court to initiate treason proceedings against players who are being investigated for alleged spot fixing on the current tour of England.
